This is the most validating, practical piece of advice for an overwhelmed brain like mine sometimes.
When you are already drowning, a 14-step deep-clean checklist feels like a personal indictment. It paralyzes you. But this? This is survival mode reframed as a strategy.
The concept of "protecting the daily loops" is brilliant. It strips away the guilt of the dusty surfaces or skirting boards or the mountain of laundry and focuses entirely on triage.
This will work beautifully for me because:
- I don't have to decide where to start. The sink and the 2-minute lap are my only boundaries.
- It stops the domino effect: A messy sink breeds a messy worktop, which breeds a messy kitchen. Keeping that one area clear protects the peace of the whole room.
- It will give me permission to rest: Knowing I can sit down guilt-free after just two minutes of picking up is incredibly freeing.
“Do the dishes and walk the lap" is going to be my new mantra for the heavy weeks. 👍🏾
I love the simplicity of this. I am so good at overthinking and making tidying and cleaning a big ordeal. Thinking of it as loops is really helpful because it helps me see what the highest priorities are in a daily basis. Thanks for writing.
Thank you for this 🙏🏾
